About Andrew

How I got here

I grew up in Denver, Colorado. My first job was scalping tickets outside Red Rocks so I could afford to be inside, soaking up live music under the stars. During my senior year at Yale, I left school to start RippleMatch.

RippleMatch helped millions of people launch their careers, raised more than $75 million from investors including Goldman Sachs and Work-Bench, and was acquired by JobGet. Building the company was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It also brought long nights, difficult decisions, and all sorts of challenges.

Along the way, I began advising other founders and investing in early-stage startups — three of which, with a good deal of luck and timing, grew into billion-dollar companies. I realized that while every company is different, the hardest parts of building one are remarkably similar: the loneliness, the self-doubt, the weight of making decisions that affect employees, customers, and investors, and the constant tension between work, family, health, and everything else that matters.

These days, whether I'm coaching or investing, I like to bet on lifelong learners trying to do big things in the world. I believe in the power of hard work, but I've come to think the founders who go the distance aren't the ones who grind themselves into oblivion — they're the ones who find the current and swim with it. My approach blends nearly a decade of experience building a venture-backed company with ideas I've learned from exceptional coaches, therapists, meditation teachers, and psychology professors. I love helping founders build companies that matter without losing themselves in the process.

I live in Brooklyn with my wife, Paige, a therapist, and our Great Dane, Tuna, a big slobbery ball of love.
